Throughout the design project, Christofi worked closely with decorative painters
Phil and Pat Parsons. It was they who painted the entry hall floor in what he calls his own
"stylized hourglass" pattern in black and white on wood, punctuated by small yellow diamonds.
"It's important for the wood to show through to connect with other floors in the house," he
comments. The painters also transformed the door at the end of the hall, which now has faux
iron bars looking through to an Italianate garden, framed in faux limestone.
